09 Feb 5-hour ENERGY® is ready to Gas & Go with Clint Bowyer in 2012!
It’s almost that time of year again, NASCAR fans! Soon the sound of engines roaring and the smell of racing fuel will fill the air. Thanks to our new sponsorship of Clint Bowyer and the No. 15 5-hour ENERGY® Toyota Camry, all of us here at 5-hour ENERGY® are more than ready to get the 2012 NASCAR season rolling.
Clint Bowyer is returning for his seventh full-time NASCAR season in 2012. It will be his first season with Michael Waltrip Racing and 5-hour ENERGY®. Clint and the 5-hour ENERGY® Racing Team joins Martin Truex Jr., future hall of famer Mark Martin and two-time Daytona 500 champ Michael Waltrip at Michael Waltrip Racing.
Michael Waltrip, co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing, and teammate Mark Martin have a combined start of 1,600 Sprint Cup races. They are the only drivers to have wins spanning four different decades in the Sprint Cup, Nationwide or Camping World Truck Series. With this history of success, we only have high hopes for Clint.
In a behind-the-scenes look at his recent photo shoot, Clint shared his thoughts on the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup season.
“I’m really excited about 2012, having 5-hour ENERGY® on board. Very exciting sponsor, high energy, and it’s kind of the way I am, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with the sponsor and interacting with fans and things like that off the race track.”
Clint’s debut race in the #15 5-hour ENERGY® Toyota Camry starts on February 18 at the Budweiser Shootout. This non-points competition offers a cash prize over $1 million! Just eight days later, Clint will be racing the 5-hour ENERGY® car in the highly anticipated Daytona 500.
February could prove to be a career-changing month for Clint Bowyer, Michael Waltrip Racing, and 5-hour ENERGY®! Clint’s new team has a history of success in the NASCAR Cup Series. In 2001 and 2003, Michael Waltrip took first place in the Daytona 500 without even competing in the Shootout. If Clint pulls it off at the Shootout, he could join the list of five racers since 1982 who have won the Shootout and the Daytona 500 in the same year!
We’d like to leave you with your wheels spinning in anticipation for the 2012 season, so in the famous words of Michael Waltrip’s brother and recent NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Darrell Waltrip, “Boogity, Boogity, Boogity! Let’s go racing boys!”
