22 Jan Bill Lavin and Where Angels Play
Air Date: January 22, 2014
New Jersey firefighter Bill Lavin founded, “Where Angels Play” a non-profit inspired by two of the most tragic events in 2012: Hurricane Sandy and the Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
“Where Angels Play” helps communities hit by hurricane Sandy by building playgrounds dedicated to the lives lost in the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, CT.
Bill hopes these playgrounds provide a symbol of hope, recovery and a return to normalcy. He wants them to serve as a gift to the youth in an effort to enhance and sustain their precious childhood.
5-hour ENERGY’s $50,000 gift to “Where Angels Play” was used to build a playground in New London, CT in memory of Emilie Parker. Emilie was six years old when she was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting.
So far, 16 “Where Angels Play” playgrounds have been built and they plan to finish 11 more by July of 2014.
