20 May Jim Furyk Wears Red, White and Blue to Support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation
Farmington Hills, MI – May 20, 2014 –Jim Furyk will trade in his usual white and black hat for red, white and blue in two upcoming golf tournaments, lending his support for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF), a top-rated nonprofit organization that provide college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends to the military’s special operations forces and their families.
From May 1 through July 31, 2014, Living Essentials, LLC, Furyk’s sponsor and the distributor of 5-hour ENERGY®, will donate five cents from the sale of every specially marked red, white and blue bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® to SOWF. The minimum guaranteed donation is $75,000.
“I’m honored to play a role in helping 5-hour ENERGY® promote SOWF, an organization that does outstanding work to support the families of our nation’s heroes,” said Furyk, who will debut his new look at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, TX, and wear it through The Memorial Tournament in Dublin, OH.
Since 1980, over 900 Special Operations personnel have lost their lives on operational missions or during intense training programs; and over 1,000 children survive these oft-unsung heroes. The SOWF has 139 students enrolled in colleges and universities across the country. In 2012, the organization provided $3.9 million in scholarship grants, financial aid and beneficiary support to families of fallen SOF personnel, and to wounded and hospitalized SOF personnel.
