5-hour ENERGY® Racing News

12 May Kansas Race Report

No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY benefiting Special Operations Warrior Foundation Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 23rd in Saturday night’s 5-hour ENERGY 400 at Kansas Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 23rd and in the opening laps raced his way into the top 15. But a spin in turn two on lap 47 dropped Bowyer two laps down to the leaders. The Emporia, Kan. native making his 300th start spent the rest of the race working to regain the lost laps. Bowyer avoided several accidents on the 1.5-mile track but could not regain the laps. Bowyer and the No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota team return to action Friday night’s Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

  • Started 23rd and finished 23rd.
  • Moved into the top 15 early in the race.
  • Spun on lap 47 – lost two laps.
  • Race marked Bowyer’s 300th start.

BOWYER: “Well that was disappointing and certainly not how he wanted to finish the race at my home track. We just couldn’t seem to get the handling right tonight on our No.15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota. Just a disappointing end to a great week.”
