27 Jul Indianapolis Report
No. 15 Toyota driver Clint Bowyer started and finished 16th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver leapt into the top-10 in the early going even leading three laps which equaled his career total on the historic track. Bowyer’s day turned sour when a late race pit stop dropped him out of the top-10 and back in the pack. Debris on the grill forced him to come down pit road during the final caution, keeping him from contending for the victory. The No. 15 team returns to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway.
- Started and finished 16th
- Led three laps equaling his career total at Indianapolis
- Pit stop dropped him out of the top 10 late in the race
- Debris kept him from regaining lost positions
BOWYER QUOTE: “Our RK Motors Toyota was much better than our 16th-place finish. We had a little trouble in the pits and we got back in some traffic. We had to pit under that last caution because we got some debris on the grill from another car when we were leaving pit road. It was a frustrating day but Brian Pattie and the guys gave me a good car, just wish we finished better than we did.”
