Elena DiSilvestro and Summerwinds Stables

Story #12
Air Date: September 17, 2013

Elena DiSilvestro founded SummerWinds Stables which rescues and provides a sanctuary for abused, injured, and neglected horses. They also offer equine assisted therapeutic programs to assist at-risk youth, disabled children, and veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. They’ve rescued and placed more than 250 horses to date and have helped a countless number of people through their therapeutic programs.

Earlier this year, Elena’s landlord told her the property she was leasing for SummerWinds Stables was going to be used for other purposes. Her family also lived on the land so she had only 90 days to find a new home for herself, her kids, and 40+ rescued horses.

Elena found a nearby available property that would accommodate them, but she had not been saving for this move. 5-hour ENERGY stepped in, providing Elena $50,000, for a down payment on the new property keeping SummerWinds Stables alive.

On August 5th, 2013 Elena signed the lease for the new property and SummerWinds Stables officially has a new home to call their own.

I am amazed that people like Elena still exist!! My brother-in-law lost his youngest daughter whose name was also Elena…age 21…died on her Dad’s birthday Apr 26th.
But enough about your special name ;it’s only a small portion of who you REALLY ARE!!
I am an animal lover from nearly birth and what you do to help the helpless is a God-sent gift and I salute YOU!. The beautiful horses and animals that rely on humans for their care and survival I pray can only be multiplied by folks such as you..Living on a fixed income is not the easiest but I wish I could send you some funds to expand your care. I would like to organize a fund-raising activity to assist you in your blessed ways. Please write back and tell me what is your biggest need. Thank you for all that you do and please write back ASAP.
