The Hazelips

Story #7
Air Date: August 14, 2013

Thom and Michele Hazelip left a comfortable life in the suburbs and moved their family to a inner-city neighborhood. In 2004, they bought a condemned house a block from the projects and two blocks from the city’s most famous street for drug trafficking and prostitution.

At their new inner city home, Thom and Michele created the Front Porch Ministry. The Front Porch Ministry is a safe haven for the single mothers and children of the troubled neighborhood. Almost every day there’s a structured event at the Hazelip home, giving families in the neighborhood a glimmer of hope.

Michele has become a surrogate Mom to the neighborhood kids. Thom acts as a father figure for many of the boys who have absent fathers. Many of the children refer to Thom and Michele as “mama and daddy.”

With the $50,000 from “5-hour ENERGY® Helps Amazing People”, the Hazelips want to finish construction on their home and continue opening their home to others in need.

This is the first time I have ever seen a company provide moral and financial support to real heroes. People like you or me who are willing to give so much of themselves to help others. If more companies would be willing to do what “FIVE HOUR ENERGY” is doing, perhaps one day we would regain the spirit of America, America has lost what made our country great. The sense of community and love for each other, the compassion and firm believe in doing what is right. Thank you Five hour Energy for helping our country be great again. I will share your story with all my contacts at work, my friends, my clients and all the people that i know. I will asked them to buy your product and share the story with others. Please make this last. You guys are doing an awesome job !!!

You know — unlike most ads on Youtube, i *have* actually been watching these episodes all the way through – sure are few ads there that bring tears to my eyes.

Now i know you’re a company with a bottom line and all that — but you have chosen a wonderful way to market your product. We live in a free enterprise system, and that’s how it works — but when we recognize our better angels within and are generous with the money we do earn through our hard work, there is no better reward.

I didn’t have a real need for “5 hr energy” before (or now) but let me tell you — i *will* buy your product next time i’m at the store, if *only* to encourage more marketing in the way that you folks have chosen to do it. Good job, folks. :->

Thank you 5 hour energy for promoting these people. How do I help? I wish more companies would support the “real heroes” of our world. Thank you! Thank you Hazelips!

I can’t remember being so moved by story. The Hazelips renew my faith in humanity. It made me ache inside drive immediately to Nashville to meet them, bring something, roll up my sleeves and help out. What can I do to help?
