Las Vegas Race Report
Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 27th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started second after rain cancelled Friday qualifying and NASCAR set the starting order by 2012 points. Bowyer’s race took a turn for the worse early when he pitted on lap 16 to change tires dropping him two laps behind the leaders. With only one caution in the first 100 laps, Bowyer struggled to regain the lost laps. He battled throughout the day and tried various strategies to regain lost ground, but the cautions never fell his way. The No. 15 team returns to action next Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway.
- Started second and finished 27th
- Pitted to change tires and fix loose car on lap 16.
- One caution in first 100 laps made regaining lost laps difficult.
BOWYER: “It just wasn’t our day. We struggled right from the start. The car just started out really, really loose – so loose I thought I had a tire going down and pitted early. That put us behind the rest of the day. We battled and tried to make the best of a difficult situation. This is one of those days that you really had to stay focused and just keep trying everything in your bag of tricks to make it better. We got what we could. I’m just ready to head back east and try again next week at Bristol.”
