02 Sep The Special Operations Warrior Foundation Receives $200,000 Donation from Sales of Cherry Flavored 5-hour ENERGY® Shots
Tampa, FL, September 2, 2015 – Today, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) received a $200,000 donation from Living Essentials, LLC (the distributor of 5-hour ENERGY® shots). This is the second year of the Living Essentials program with the top-rated nonprofit organization based in Tampa, FL that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends.
The amount is based on a donation of five cents from the sale of every bottle of the limited edition, specially marked cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots sold between May 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015.
The check was presented at SOWF’s headquarters to two college students who directly benefit from the organization:
- Tommy Miller is the son of Army Special Forces Major Kenneth Miller who lost his life in 2003. Tommy graduated from Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina in 2014 with a degree in International and Comparative Politics. He is a native of Whispering Pines, North Carolina.
- Mitchell Voas is the son of Air Force Major Randall Voas who lost his life in 2010 while deployed to Afghanistan with the 8th Special Operations Squadron. Mitchell is a native of Miramar Beach, Florida. Mitchell is starting his freshman year at the University of Tampa where he is studying business.
“This is the second year of our program with Living Essentials, and the recognition our organization received is outstanding,” said Vice Admiral and Navy SEAL (Ret.) Joe Maguire, president of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. “The funds raised through the sale of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots go a long way in supporting families of America’s special operations troops and our wounded operators, and we can see the direct result of these efforts in the bright futures of Tommy and Mitchell,” said Maguire.
